Biography

Sydney is a writer and director based between her home state of Ohio and New York City. Her films have screened at festivals throughout the United States and Canada. Her work explores family dynamics—particularly the complex and intimate bond between mother and child—often weaving together documentary and narrative techniques to create emotionally grounded stories. Drawing inspiration from Midwestern life, history, and nostalgia, Sydney seeks to honor the people and places that shape those stories. Outside of filmmaking, she teaches college-level film courses in Ohio and across the East Coast.
